The Young Melanin and Feminine Project Part 1 of 3: The conversation (July 29th)

Girls between ages 13-15 will have engaging conversations with one another about everyday life topics that black females may experience.

Hair

representation in the media/beauty industry/etc.

Colourism

microaggression/ stereotypes black women may face

Current world issues

and much more...

The goal is girls will have engaging conversations in which we recognize problems and solutions in society. Girls will leave with a sense of unity and there is a community behind them.

The Young Melanin and Feminine Project Part 2 of 3: The Panel (August 5th)

Girls between the ages of 13-15 will get to meet older black women from different careers and walk of life in which they will explain what they do and later on girls can ask each panellist questions to create conversation.

The goal is younger women can learn, become inspired and create a connection with older women in certain fields that they may want to work in later in life.

The Young Melanin and Feminine Project Part 3 of 3: Where do we go from now? (August 12th)

Girls from ages 13-15 will talk about what changes they want to see in the world, the different ways it is possible to create positive change in their communities and learn from one another.

The goal is girls will have the sense that they can make an impact and are aware of what their next steps are towards making change.
