Description

Turning the Tables on Mental Health was developed by the MAG Mental Health Illuminati to support mental health in the workplace. The program is available to employees and managers in MAG.

Turning the Tables is a three-hour program, split into two parts:

Part 1: A panel discussion involving a business professional, a counsel, and a manager, who provide an overview of issues relating to living and working with mental illness. With reference to their own lived experience, the panel members provide suggestions for addressing barriers and valuing diversity and inclusion for those living with mental illness. The panelists provide insights on resilience.

Part 2: A small group conversation where a facilitator hosts a table of up to 10 attendees. Each host either lives with a mental illness and/or has a loved one who does. The hosts share aspects of their lived experience and guide a discussion of best conversations practices for supporting people with mental health issues in the workplace. The table conversations provide an informal and personal setting for creating awareness about perceptions associated with mental illness and how to reduce the likelihood of a person feeling stigmatized by colleagues. Issues relating to concealing and revealing mental illness at work are discussed.

By the end of this program, participants are expected to:

  • Understand issues relating to living and working with mental illness
  • Consider how unconscious bias can have an impact on people not disclosing mental illness
  • Determine how to break down barriers and address discrimination
  • Understand the value of diversity and inclusion for those living with mental illness
  • Appreciate how to support colleagues who are living with mental illness
  • Understand the considerations that go into concealing and revealing mental illness at work.

This program has been approved for LSO accreditation of 2.75 EDI hours.

Space is limited to 65 participants. Register early!
