Verdi: Requiem

Verdi’s extraordinary and awe-inspiring Requiem combines the drama of opera, the thrill of of wonderful symphonic writing, and stellar and virtuosic solo moments, with a deeply personal expression of grief. Although it sets the words of the Requiem mass, Verdi never intended this powerful and moving music for church use, but as a public memorial to one of Italy’s cultural icons. Luminos Ensemble and Luminos Chamber Orchestra join forces with Island Choral Society, and soloists Georgia Edwards, Hannah O’Donnell, Justin Simard, and Brodie MacRae to present this spectacular, once in a generation performance of one of the greatest works in the choral repertoire.
