Cycle tourism in Haliburton Highlands is growing!

County of Haliburton Tourism and Ontario By Bike are pleased to invite you to join a free webinar to learn about exciting cycling and cycle tourism developments in the county and how to tap into the growing cycle tourism market by getting certified as bicycle friendly with Ontario By Bike.

With excellent paved road and gravel riding, rail trails and exhilarating mountain biking, more and more cyclists are visiting Haliburton Highlands. Getting certified as bicycle friendly will help cyclists find your business or location when planning bike rides and trips.

Join the webinar to learn more about how welcoming cyclists is good for business, learn about exciting developments in cycle tourism in the region and the province, and learn how to get certified as bicycle friendly.

If you are already a certified bicycle friendly location, attend to hear about new opportunities, how to update your existing business listing and/or invite new staff to find out more about the Ontario By Bike Network.

Bicycle friendly certification is open to tourism-oriented businesses and locations in the following categories - accommodations, attractions, food services, bike-related businesses, and business areas. See below for more details.

Ontario By Bike Network Participation:

The Network is open to accommodations (roofed accommodations, camping), attractions (galleries, museums, wineries, breweries, etc.) food service providers (cafes, restaurants, etc.), business areas and other cycling-related businesses (bike shops, tours, rentals) wanting to attract cycle tourists to their location.

Certified locations appear on the Ontario By Bike Map and are on the business directory for your region. The following requirements must be met to become a certified bicycle friendly location and participate in the Network:

Coordinated by Transportation Options and with the help of local area partners, Ontario By Bike was initially piloted in 2008. Following an enthusiastic reception and extensive market research, the Ontario By Bike Network (formerly the Welcome Cyclists Network) was launched in 2010 and is currently active in 41 regions across Ontario.

There are now over 1,600 Ontario By Bike participating locations.
