Event description

Description

Presenters: Cristina Delgado Vintimilla, Sylvia Kind, and Adrienne Argent

In this two-day session we will share the pedagogical and artistic trajectories that characterize Capilano University Children’s Centre’s West Coast Pedagogies. The presentation will trace our work from its initial and crucial inspiration in Loris Malaguzzi’s pedagogical thought and Reggio Emilia principles to the ongoing creation of a West Coast pedagogical ethos. Here, we refer to an ethos because we engage with our pedagogical and artistic practices as more than teaching and learning practices for meaning making. We hope that West Coast pedagogies will inspire the audience to find the vital and catalyzing forces that exist when creating educational processes that are, on one hand, intimately situated in particular historical/cultural inheritances and, on the other hand, are experimental and oriented within creating alternative subjective and collective formations.

Friday, October 25 (Day One) takes place at the Jewish Community Centre in Vancouver.

Saturday, October 26 (Day Two) takes place at the Capilano University Children's Centre in North Vancouver.

You can register for both days (Friday and Saturday), or Friday only. It is not possible to take part in the study tour/studio experience on Saturday only.
