Join Dale Leckie on Zoom to find out about Alberta and Saskatchewan wildlife, landscapes and geology from his new book, Wildlife, Landscapes and Geology: An Alberta and Saskatchewan Touring Guide. In his previous two bestselling books, Dale introduced Albertans to the geology behind our gorgeous landscapes and now he adds wildlife and expands to add Saskatchewan.

From the Rocky Mountains to the rain shadow of the prairies, from deeply entrenched rivers of prairie oases and glaciated terrain, geology has a strong impact on wildlife. The relationship between wildlife and landcape is explored and exemplified in the lives of golden eagles and the Rockies, the American pika and eroding mountains, of burrowing owls on glaciated plains and greater short-horned lizards living in a rain shadow.

Leckie interweaves science with spectacular photos, beautiful art images and maps to take you to the most interesting places in these two prairie provinces.

Dale Leckie, PhD., is a geologist who worked at the Geological Survey of Canada and after as chief geologist in a large Canadian energy company.
