Description

The women of Applied Research and Innovation Services (ARIS) at SAIT are celebrating SAIT’s 100th anniversary. We invite you to connect in a special way on January 25th!

This is one of a series of events aimed at bringing SAIT students together with staff, alumni, and industry and community members to discuss and explore ways of encouraging more women to become involved in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, as well as Trades education at SAIT.

At this event, we will have an expert panel which will introduce you to:

  • The women of ARIS
  • The experts of STEM and Trades from the indigenous group
  • The resources available in SAIT and Calgary
  • Much more to be announced!

Hear firsthand the experiences of indigenous women who are SAIT alumni. We hope to share a smudging ceremony, a lot of wisdom, some laughter, and light food with an indigenous twist.

We encourage women to sign up, but men interested in issues facing women in STEM and Trades areas are welcome too.

RSVP - Space is limited, so register early. Registration ends at the end of day January 20th 24th, 2017.

Light snacks and refreshments will be served.

We are the Women of Applied Research and Innovation Services (ARIS); small in number, but highly representative of key SAIT audiences: researchers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM); alumni who represent the value of applied learning; and women who want to give female students the opportunity to learn about and become involved in the STEM areas of study. We are keenly aware of the under-representation of females in these fields, and our goal is to foster women’s confidence and connections as they pursue these careers.
