About this event

In this class at Saskatoon Makerspace students will learn the basics of woodturning using a lathe and create their own custom wooden object. The class will cover topics such as types of lathes, tool selection and usage, and basic woodturning techniques such as roughing, shaping, and finishing. Participants will learn how to select and use turning tools, and sand and finish their final product. Through hands-on practice and guided instruction, students will create a honey dipper to take home. The class will emphasize the importance of safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment. All materials and tools will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own basic woodturning tools if they have them. This class is suitable for beginners with little to no experience in woodturning. By the end of the class, students will have a foundational understanding of woodturning techniques and will have created their own unique wooden project to take home.

*We ask that you wear closed toed shoes and long hair must be tied up. Ear plugs and safety glasses will be provided.

Standard cancellation policy applies to all tickets.
