About this event

This class at Saskatoon Makerspace is designed to introduce students to the basic skills and safety protocols needed to use the woodworking tools in the shop. Through a combination of hands-on experience and guided instruction, participants will learn how to properly use a range of tools such as the table saw, jointer, planer, drill press, and various hand tools. By the end of the class, students will have created a small project and will have the foundational skills necessary to continue their learning journey. After taking this class, they will be certified to use our woodshop with a membership. This class is suitable for beginners with little to no woodworking experience. Please wear close toed shoes and tie up long hair. Ear plugs and safety glasses will be provided.

A ll materials are provided, plus students will go home with a speed square, tape measure, and carpenter's pencil to get you started!

* Participants must me be 14 years of age or older, ages 14 - 16 must be accompanied by a legal guardian. *
