Event description

Description

In this 8-week program, students will develop and enhance their writing skills. They will learn the key strategies to help them more effectively plan, organize, write and revise their written assignments.

Students should take this program if they want to: write more clearly and with greater impact, learn how to give their teachers what they want in written assignments, organize their ideas and create a compelling argument, and eliminate errors in grammar, punctuation and spelling.

Students in this program will learn: to brainstorm and organize their ideas in a time-saving outline, how to create effective thesis statements for essays, proper MLA formatting rules, use sources effectively when writing an essay, and plan and write compare/contrast, cause/effect, and argumentative essays.

Students in this program will: approach writing assignments with more skill and confidence, write well developed body paragraphs that support their thesis, develop their vocabulary to enhance communication skills, edit and revise their writing to create clear and concise ideas for their assignments, and use writing strategies in all of their classroom assignments.

When: Wednesdays, October 18 - December 6, 2017 from 5:30 - 7:00 pm
