About this event

  • 1 hour

The quest to understand your family's story takes centre stage at a free genealogy workshop offered by the Craigleith Heritage Depot. This informative session will equip attendees with the tools and resources needed to trace their ancestry, both within Canada and abroad.

Led by a genealogy student, the workshop will guide participants through:

  • Unlocking Canadian Records: Learn how to navigate online databases like Library and Archives Canada to discover passenger arrival records; census data and other valuable historical documents.
  • Delving into Local Archives: Explore the wealth of information housed at the Craigleith Heritage Depot, including local County records and resources.
  • Researching Overseas Ancestors: Gain insights into strategies for uncovering family history beyond Canada's borders, with a focus on readily available online resources for Scotland, Ireland, and England.

This workshop is perfect for anyone interested in uncovering their family's unique story. You may wish to bring a pen and notebook to take notes.

Registration is requested. Seating is limited.

Don't miss this opportunity to embark on a captivating journey into the past!

Note: The monthly meeting of the Genealogy Interest group will follow the speaker from 11AM to Noon for its last hour.
