YOUTH VOICES: Developing Strategies to work with young people transitioning...

Join us for this 1 day Conference in Peterborough focussing on Transitional Aged Youth, and gain insight and information from young people as they bring their collective voices and share their expereince transitioning from care. We will hear from The Cross-Over Youth Project and Project C who will address factors that lead to the disproportionate number of youth in care being criminalized compared to youth not in care. Our Voice Our Turn, Youth Amplifiers will focus on issues of mental health and the challenges of leaving care. The youth ambassador team, the queeRAdicals will share lived experiences with the goal of creating awareness around sexual diversity and gender identity. Feathers of Hope, Youth Amplifiers, will focus on advocacy and the importance of devloping youth leadership. Througout the day we will hear from local Spoken Work Artists and we will open and close our event with local drumming circle, 1R 35.
This Conference is intended for service providers working with youth, specifically youth in care and/or invovled in the youth justice system and who are transitional aged youth. This could include, but is not limited to Youth Workers, Foster Parents, Teachers and other educators, Police, Lawyers, Children's Aid Workers, any community service provider working with youth, interested community members, and any student who is looking for additional education.
Participants will be receiving a certificate of attendance. We hope you can join us!
