Welcome to the fourth annual yyseek!
Clear your weekend and get ready to compete against some of Calgary's finest as you solve riddles and explore the city! This scavenger hunt will challenge you, send you to new places, and offer you a chance to meet other teams.
Teams:
up to 4 people
Cost:
$60 per team. If you identify as low-income, get in touch and we'll make sure you're able to participate! Our Calgary Food Bank fundraising is on a separate link this year
Timing:
the hunt starts 2pm Friday, June 7 and ends 2pm Sunday, June 9. The Wrap-Up Party starts at 6pm on Sunday, June 9 (specific location provided to participants)
Location:
throughout Calgary, with a large emphasis on the city centre
Prize:
yyseek Trophy! The 2024 winners will get their Team Name engraved and then give it back after a year for the 2025 winners

We won't lie... it's designed to be a challenge! Grab your clever and competitive friends to form a team
Basically:
you'll get a list of riddles leading you to different spots in Calgary where you'll have to find something specific. There aren't any items hidden; instead, you might have to copy down words from a plaque or something carved into the sidewalk cement - that sort of thing. You can go in any order you want and it's to be expected that you might not have time to find each answer. But will you find more than the rest of the teams? Register and see!
Frequently asked questions
Thank you for asking: yes! For lots of reasons, we've changed our model this year so that donations will be separate from the registration fee. You (or your friends and family!) can donate on behalf of your team, helping you earn hunt advantages. You can also get a tax receipt from this format!
Essentially, you have to figure out where to visit, then find the answer when you arrive. No items are hidden, but you'll have to find letters or numbers on a plaque, sidewalk carving, etc. They vary, but can be pretty difficult, as we have some fierce competitors to challenge each year
Nope! You'll get the Hunt List digitally and you control when and where you hunt. Also, yyseek is non-linear, meaning that you can tackle the clues and their locations in any order
After the Hunt ends, teams should plan to come to yyseek's Wrap-Up Event starting on Sunday, June 9 at 6pm (specific location shared with participants). At the Wrap-Up, we'll share stories and Answers, announce the Winner, and present the Trophy. If necessary, we'll also do a live tie-breaker here
Technically, no. However, we'll be honest that if you want a chance at winning, it would be tough to rely only on public transportation. If you're looking for a fun weekend activity to do at your leisure, then walk, bike, scoot, train away!
