Event description

Description

As communicators, we must think visually. With the demands placed on us by visual-based social channels, we must develop an artist’s eye. IABC Waterloo’s final workshop of the season will challenge you to tap into your inner artist.

We’ll gather at Kitchener’s Steckle Heritage Farm, a 10.3 acre heritage designated property offering nature’s best inspiration: an original barn built in 1840, lovely gardens and adorable farm animals.

Your workshop facilitator, artist Wendy Angel, will send you on three photo assignments. You’ll use the backdrop of Steckle Farm to create several insta-worthy photographs using your smart phone and a few artists’ tricks. You’ll take those tricks and your new perspective back to the workplace to add greater value to your company’s communications efforts.

IABC Waterloo will conclude the session with a brief annual meeting update for members, including announcement of our new slate of directors for 2017/2018.

Registration 5:00-5:15 / Farm Tour 5:15-5:45 / Workshop 5:45-7:00 / AGM 7:00-7:30

Workshop facilitator: Wendy Angel worked in the advertising industry as an art director and illustrator for over 25 years and ran her own creative venture. Her credits include campaign work for major corporate clients, as well as creative direction for several magazines and books. Currently she is teaching drawing and design courses to the new generation of up and coming creative types at Conestoga College.

Price includes: Admission to the farm, farm tour and wagon ride, workshop, light grab-and-go-style snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. (Please bring your own smart phone or digital camera)

Attire: Please wear casual attire and comfortable footwear (country clothing encouraged). This workshop takes place rain or shine, as artists are inspired by all of nature’s elements. Please dress accordingly.

Parking: Please park at 226 McIntyre Dr. and follow the paved path to the barn. (Please do not park at the Bleams Road main entrance)

Smoking: There is no smoking on farm property due to the vulnerability of farm structures and animals. We have been advised that guests who smoke anywhere on the property will be removed.

Refunds: Refunds will not be issued after June 9th, 5 p.m. due to vendor cost commitments.
