Event description

Description

“I’m a Bit Anxious About This: Anxiety and ASD” focuses on the experience of anxiety for people on the autism spectrum, the most common emotional issue. Explore some of the causes of anxiety, prevalence, common types of anxiety (school anxiety, social anxiety), some ways to identify anxiety, and strategies to help children and adults with ASD cope with and manage their anxiety. The tools learned can be used effectively with all people of all ages with minimal adaptation.

This workshop is delivered by Katherine Paxton, CCC from Victoria, BC. Katherine has supported people with developmental disabilities, multiple disabilities, and dual diagnoses (or multiple diagnoses) for over a quarter of a century. Her current specialization is counselling people who are on the autism spectrum, their families, partners/spouses, children, and employers. Through her practice she supports adults and children, couples, families, and individuals.
