Curious about printmaking? In this fun & lively class, we'll introduce you to designing, carving and hand printing a small block.

During this 3-hour afternoon workshop, you will learn the basics of relief printmaking, including:<ul><li>an overview of printmaking;</li><li>a look at the necessary equipment;</li><li>designing and carving a relief block;</li><li>printing by hand;</li><li>clean up; and</li><li>resources for printmakers.</li></ul>LEVEL: Absolutely no experience is necessary. SUPPLY FEEAll materials will be provided for an additional $10 fee payable in cash to the instructor, including carving tools (for use during class), blocks, ink, paper and greeting cards, but please come to the class with a few ideas for a 3” by 4” design. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORDawn Rogal is a printmaker, fibre artist, miniaturist and (cameraless) photographer living in View Royal but formerly from Saskatchewan. Dawn’s printmaking work is primarily relief based but she’s not shy to try other methods. Often Dawn combines print on textiles with embroidered embellishments.While living in Saskatoon, Dawn was a juried member of the Saskatchewan Craft Council for both printmaking and mixed media, and a founding member of SK Printmakers. Her work has been shown in both solo and group shows in Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Seattle, Austin, Brooklyn and Los Angeles.Dawn is strongly influenced by natural history, both real and imagined.
