Meditation Series: Eight Verses of Training the Mind

Our series of classes this winter and spring are based on Eight Verses of Training the Mind - beautiful and inspiring advice from Bodhisattva Langri Tangpa. These ancient teachings, resonate with modern people today, with profound advice on how to transform adverse conditions to the spiritual path. By comtemplating, meditating and applying the wisdom of these verses in our daily life, we will gain a deep experience of inner peace, happiness and love.

Each class consists of guided meditations and teachings that we can contemplate and practice throughout the week. Through engaging in meditation practice we can develop and maintain a peaceful mind all the time. If we have a peaceful mind all the time we will be happy all the time, regardless of whether our conditions are good or bad. Now is the time to train in inner peace and happiness by putting Buddha’s teachings into practice.

Each class is a stand-alone class that is part of a series of classes. You do not need to attend the full series to benefit from these classes. These classes are based on the books How to Transform Your Life and The New Eight Steps to Happiness.

Join Gen Kelsang Kunden as we meditate and contemplate on Buddhist wisdom that will increase the natural virtue of happiness within our mind.

Eight Verses Series Topics this winter:

  • JANUARY: The Cherishing Heart
  • FEBRUARY: Enhancing Cherishing Love
  • MARCH: Exchanging Self with Others
  • APRIL: Great Compassion

Avalokiteshvara Kadampa Buddhist Centre (AKBC) was established in 2009 to provide people in Guelph and Southwestern Ontario with the opportunity to develop happiness and inner peace through practising Buddha’s teachings.  AKBC is a peaceful oasis in the city where anyone can learn the right methods to experience lasting happiness and well-being. AKBC serves the Southwestern Ontario communities of Guelph, Kitchener, London, Stratford, Georgetown and nearby areas.

Kadampas are those who take Buddha’s teaching as personal advice and put it into practice.  This modern presentation from the Kadampa lineage is particularly suited to people of the modern world to help solve our modern-day problems such as stress, anxiety, anger, and ill-health.

We are located in Guelph at 143 Wyndham St N, Suite 203, where we offer a wide variety of classes, courses, retreats and workshops and Buddhist prayers year round. We also offer drop in classes on meditation and modern Buddhism at various venues in the surrounding area.

Classes are run entirely by volunteers. AKBC is a Canadian registered charity (81467 9429 RR0001).

AKBC is also a member of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU), a non-profit organization with a global network of over 1,200 Centres and groups around the world.
